Manchester United Football Club Carrington Training Ground
Manchester United Football Club's Carrington Training Ground (renamed Aon Training Complex in 2013) received a major facelift with a large two-storey extension to the main building. The project included a new dedicated medical wing with CT and MRI scanner, Sports Science monitoring rooms, players rest suite, fexible dining space with glass folding partitions, and new offices for both the management and coaching personnel. The extension maintains the linear rectangular shape of the existing building and its original features, and incorporates a covered end terrace at first floor level facing the main training pitches.
The redevelopment scheme also included a new two-storey grounds team and visitor centre facility, two caged astroturf training pitches and external landscaping to enrich the development. There is also a new security lodge, with changes to the vehicle entrances and exit, new roads within the site and an extended car park.
The redevelopment of the facility was designed by architects FDG Fairhursts and Eric Wright Construction were the main contractors.
Marshall Kypriadis Associates designed the stunning contemporary glazed link walkway and water feature, which was also built by Eric Wright Construction.
